We have a Monte Carlo model 5DI52BSD. The light burnt out so we bought a replacement (halogen). However, the light now won't come on. We hear a clicking noise when we flip the switch, but that's it. Any idea why this might be?

After having the same experience with my fan, I exposed the wires to see if it was a wiring issue and found a dead fuse. Once I replaced the fuse, the new bulb worked fine. It seems like every time the halogen goes out, that fuse blows, too. I blame old wiring. Hope that helps.
If the fan has a remote check the remote control unit if it is bad you will have to replace the unit but it may be just a bad connection with the bulb base
